  1. She thanked Geffen (David Geffen)for staying out of the kitchen this time. Cats Without Claws Album.

  2. It was Cats Without Claws (1984). She was saying it to David Geffen and it was a reference to the fact that he shelved the album I’m a Rainbow – Donna felt like he was usurping her creative control of her projects. The quote was (and I’m doing this from memory because I can’t locate the album – it’s somewhere in the black hole of my apartment): To David Geffen: “Thank you for staying out of the kitchen. Now I hope you enjoy this meal.”

  3. “Cats Without Claws”. To David Geffen she says: “Thanks for staying out of the kitchen this time. Now I hope you love this meal”.

    • I found it very interesting that after reading between the lines that there were several pressing’s on yellow vinyl after talking with a seller on eBay… I didn’t want to but I ended up cutting a small opening in the side of my copy and low and behold my set of Love to Love You Donna was Yellow Vinyl… Awesome right guys!

  15. She said to david Geffen, thanks for staying out of the kitchen on this one. Now I hope you love this meal. Album- Cats Without Claws

  16. well… everyone else above has already said it above… but I’ll repeat it again (if it makes a difference !) from Cats Without Claws Album (1984) –
“To David Geffen – Thanks for staying out of the kitchen this time. Now I hope you love this meal.” If it makes a difference, the reason she (likely) made this statement was due to the shelved 1981 “I’m A Rainbow” LP where Mr. Geffen stuck his nose in the kitchen plenty and didn’t much care for odor… So he teamed her up with Quincy Jones for the “Donna Summer” 1982 LP which was moderately successful, but did not have the MONSTER hit like her next 1983 LP “She Works Hard For The Money” which was Donna’s first pairing with producer Michael Omartian; which ironically was NOT on Geffen label as it was fullfilling her final obligation with her Casablanca contract (which was released on Mercury! …ah the record industry…). So…. when Donna DID her next LP for Geffen (Cats Without Claws), Geffen likely ‘stayed out of the kitchen’ as Donna had just had what is often referred to as an empowering anthem to working women! And Geffen trusted that the winning combo would hit paydirt again… But perhaps Geffen should have sniffed in the kitchen a little more when Omartian and Summer were cooking their 2nd course, as their 2nd pairing did not produce the promised souffle, but rather just a rather mundane cake; not even worthy of being left out in the rain…

  17. Cats Without Claws
David Geffen. “Thanks for staying out of the kitchen this time. Now I hope you love this meal”.

  18. The album is “CATS WITHOUT CLAWS”, the person is “DAVID GEFFEN” and the exact words are “TO DAVID GEFFEN – THANKS FOR STAYING OUT OF THE KITCHEN THIS TIME. NOW I HOPE YOU LOVE THIS MEAL.”

  19. I forget about David Geffen…there must be some other way to get a yellow vinyl copy of this album?
