With today’s technology it is easy for someone to download or illegally copy music (especially from “Love to Love You Donna”). Some of the DJ’s and re mixers from the project have been playing parts or pieces of their work on the new CD at shows and events to get the fans and audience excited about the forthcoming release. Some things get ripped off of Mixshow when someone like Duke Dumont “Dim All The Lights” plays it live and then it ends up on soundlcoud but it isn’t officially out yet or has been premiered. The Verve Recording Group has worked hard to promote and strategically market the Donna Summer “Love to Love You Donna” and it is a treat for us Fans to hear premiers and cuts from the CD. The Fan Club has been given (along with a few others) exclusive first listens and premiers for the Fans and Media to enjoy and help promote the release. If you see something posted by someone other than an “official premier” don’t be fooled that it is the official Remix or if you see these sort of post please let us know as we all want the release to be a great success for Donna and her Legacy.
so what’s with the so call remix by holy ghost?????????????? is it a fake one?
Lets hope so, but the headlines (including on this website) said that it was a world premier. Maybe someone has realized their bad choices and are rushing to fix them after fan and public outcry. I am really hoping what we have heard are only preliminary edits and when it is actually released for real it will blow everyone’s socks off. They can’t leave out the vocals and make it any kind of a tribute. No dubs please. That’s just crazy to have those wonderful vocals and not use them.
But it all seems senseless. How can they throw these things out there and not expect people to take advantage of it? I am hoping the things we have heard so far are teasers and not the real thing. This project could be so good and verve has done a lot to market it on social media, but I think there are a lot of mistakes in track selection, etc. it was taking hold, and then some really bad remix samples have been heard and it seems to have killed the momentum. Hope it’s not too late to fix the miss steps. From everything I have heard, Sunset People should be the first single. I am still excited to get it, but we want better. WTMS just is a major dud and OTR is completely scary. Fix them or get rid of them. Bot were promoted as premiers so I guess they are in their final edits….sad and shameful if this is it.
Whilst i’ve been excited about hearing the leaked tracks, I have to admit that i’m a bit cautious as to why they would let most of them be heard before the album is on the shelves. I mean, who is REALLY going to purchase a copy of the album if all the tracks are in their playlists at home, downloaded off the internet, for free? Why pass money to Amazon or a record store if the record label themselves are leaking the tracks??
I think they ought to just leak a segment of each track, to tease everyone. Not the full remix, in any way shape or form. A teaser, that’s all we need. It makes me wonder just what will be on the album when it does finally see the light of day – maybe all the mixes we’ve heard are NOT the versions that will eventually appear.
One thing’s for sure – whichever way this goes in has increased interest in Donna’s back catalogue, whether for diehard fans, dj’s or kids in clubs who will possibly question who’s singing on this cool ‘new’ mix.
I have some of the same thoughts. Seems to me with the current strategy, they are just throwing money out the window. With Donna having such a smaller fan base now than in her heyddey, they would want to make money, just not give it away for free and with the leaks that are available, people will find a way to steal it. Then, like you said, why buy when they already have it. Only us die hard fans are going to spend. Maybe we will be in for a real surprise whren the actual album is released.
I would assume the sound quality is different plus the album may be nonstop. I’ll buy it anyway.
All that we’ve heard must be an official premiere because all that we’ve heard, or I’ve heard, I should say, is on iTunes:)
